Organic Cotton Fabrics
Cotton has been well-loved for centuries for its softness, durability and versatility. However, conventionally grown cotton is responsible for a quarter of the world's insecticide use, as well as heavy use of defoliants, fungicide, and other chemical interventions. Organic cotton is grown without the use of pesticides, relying instead on integrated pest management techniques. Organic cotton plants cannot be genetically modified. In the production phase, the fibers must be cleaned, spun and dyed in facilities devoted to organic processes. Certified organic cotton producers are monitored regularly to ensure compliance with international standards.
